OrbitMI Acquires AuQub Intelligence to Advance AI-Powered Maritime Workflows

OrbitMI has announced its agreement to acquire Quebec-based AI firm AuQub Intelligence, marking a significant step in its mission to develop intelligent, connected maritime workflows. AuQub’s suite of AI-driven agents is designed to optimize workflows and automate repetitive tasks, empowering businesses with faster and more efficient decision-making.

With this acquisition, OrbitMI is enhancing its platform’s ability not only to connect data but to interpret it—delivering actionable insights that allow shipowners and operators to optimize voyages, improve compliance, and make data-driven operational decisions at scale.

As part of the transaction, OrbitMI appointed AuQub co-founder Alexandre Lapointe as Chief Product Officer. In his new role, Alexandre will lead OrbitMI’s product vision, oversee the integration of AuQub’s technologies, and define the strategic roadmap for the company’s platform.

With more than 25 years of experience in the transportation, energy, and software sectors—including senior leadership roles at Lloyd’s Register, OneOcean Group, and Marine Press—Alexandre brings a deep understanding of maritime technology and digital transformation. He has contributed to multiple mergers and acquisitions, including one recognized with a 2023 Mid-Sized Enterprise Sale of the Year award.

The move reinforces OrbitMI’s continued investment in innovation and product development. The company’s platform, known for solutions like Orbit Reporter, helps maritime businesses manage compliance, reduce fuel consumption, and turn real-time data into operational impact.
