MPCC has placed a €228 million order for four dual-fuel ready 4,500 TEU container ships. Each vessel will be chartered for three years under long-term time charter agreements with a global liner company.
Constructed to accommodate next-generation fuels, the ships are being designed with future-proof specifications that’ll allow for the switch to LNG, methanol, or other clean fuels. They’ll also feature energy-saving hull forms and optimized engine configurations to reduce emissions from the first voyage.
This order follows MPCC’s earlier deliveries of methanol-ready vessels and reinforces its strategy of equipping ships for the transition to low-carbon operations. The quartet will enhance global fleet capacity while aligning with IMO emissions targets and customer demand for greener logistics.
🌍 Wider Impact
By ordering dual-fuel ready ships, MPCC is adapting to tightening environmental regulations and offering customers flexible, future-compatible transport solutions. This move signals growing momentum in the container sector toward decarbonisation and cleaner fuels.
🔍 Interesting Fact
These 4,500 TEU vessels hit a sweet spot between ultra-large container ship efficiency and the agility of mid-sized ships—making them ideal for modern global trade routes seeking low-carbon options.
